It is with pride that we present for your education, Dr. Ahmed Tibary, a renown theriogenologist. Dr Tibary started his career as an equine reproduction specialist. His area of interest expanded to camelid reproduction when he was involved for seven years in the development of a referral center for the study of infertility and artificial breeding Arabian horses and racing camels.

In his position as professor at Washington State University, Dr. Tibary's clinical service receives all large animals species of which camelids (specially alpacas) represent a large part. He will be sharing research as well as clinical data with the veterinarians and breeders covering various aspects of reproductive management and diseases.

Dr. Tibary is considered a world authority in camelid theriogenology, he is the known to be the only person who extensively worked with all members of the camelid family including both the Bactrian and Dromedary camels, llamas, alpacas and even the occasional vicuna.

Dr. Tibary's  expertise has taken him from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco to the deserts of Arabia and Turkmanistan as well as the highlands of Argentina pursuing his desire to learn about these fascinating creatures. He served as the consultant to Horse Royal stables as well as some of the most famous racing camel stables. His book on Camelid Theriogenology published in 1997 has been recognized by several specialists as the most complete work on the subject.

About Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine

We at Auburn have been treating the camelid for many years.  With the advent of so many new members of this species in our service area, we are finding that reprodution and fertility are the key issues for the breeders  It is with pride that we bring you the best.

We invite all of the veterinarians to attend, even small animal for many times monthly fecals are done locally and the connection needs to be made.

It is quite a change and a welcomed one to large animal folks to deal with the alpaca and its owners.  They are a no nonsense group and want the best for the recovery and success of their herds.

About the Southeastern Alpaca Association

SEAA is an affiliate of the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association. This body encompasses six southern states.  We are finding the needs are similar in knowing more about the fertility and reproductive management of our herds. We also are concerned about their management in the south to prevent heat stress, a major calamity of fleece bearing camelids.

It is with great honor that we present Dr. Tibary who has come to be among us for a day and impart his findings and techniques of camelid fertility and reproductive management.
